Millingford Brook

A brief history of the Brook project, it all started one morning at the beginning of June I was out for a walk ( I had been mapping out walks for local people to enjoy during lockdown when I set off with my dog Fearless (not her real name by the way) as we arrived at the brook being a Spaniel she jumped straight in amongst the trolleys-tyres-bags of rubble etc , I had to pull her out from amongst the rubbish and I thought this cannot be right. I decided to start cleaning it out myself and Claire Baker from Golborne in Bloom said to me you cant do this on your own so we put it to the Golborne an Lowton west voice and a number of them offered their services as volunteers as long as I acted as Team leader.Leap forward 4 weeks and we had a stunning little river on our doorstep followed by a visit from our Local MP James Grundy and the Tory party vice chair Amanda Milling ( very appropriate as the river name is MILLINGford brook) who was doing a North west tour at the time .

Since their visit I believe the voice has sent invitations to the

  1. leader of Wigan Council who unfortunately declined the invitation for now at least

  2. The Mayor of GM (Andy Burnham) who has said they will get back to us when they find a suitable slot within his schedule later in the year

1- Brian Thilwind  2- Christine Lewis  3- Linda Graham 4- Alan Percival 5- Moira Jones 6- Claire Baker 7- Stan Crook

Mind you it wouldn’t have worked without our Leader FEARLESS if she hadn’t of jumped in then maybe none of this would have happened. Stan
